So this past week went well!  We had Zone Conference so that was good.  Lot's to learn from a new mission president.  But yeah, also transfer calls happened, but nothing changed!  Another 9 weeks with the Swede!  It'll be awesome.  But yeah, overall, been a busy week of finding and trying to find someone to teach.  We're almost there!  So, that was about it.  I'm sharing this talk with you because we watched it at Zone Conference, and it was super good.  So watch it and feel the Spirit!  Have a great week!

Hello everyone!  I totally thought that I sent one of these last week, but I guess not!!  But these past two weeks have been good.  Really busy finding and with all the extra things that are going on.  But hey, I think it's great.  The work is going forward well.  We had a great experience talking with this lady on the bus.  At first, she wasn't interested.  We gave her a Restoration pamphlet and after about 10 min she started to ask questions and she turned into a potential investigator for the Sisters!!  Talk about blessings.  But, that kind of stuff is truly what makes this work great.  But for this week, I want to stress the importance of loving everyone and really trying to reach out to them.  We have trials in our lives, but if we just look around, you won't have to go very far in order to see someone who has it worse than you.  So reach out, be a friend, and be the child of our Heavenly Father that He can trust to make a difference.  Because we all can.  Have an awesome week!

Hello everyone!  So we got to meet our new Mission President, and he is amazing!  He'll do so much for this mission and I'm super stoked to see where the work goes because of it.  We got to talk with him a lot after Zone Conference, so that was really nice.  He and Sister Aura will be and are awesome.  But yeah, then we also had exchanges with the Lahti Elders and with the Assistants this next week!  Both great experiences and nice times to learn and become a better missionary.  We just have some amazing missionaries here and I'm so glad to be able to work with so many of them!!  But yeah, that was a summary of the week.  Oh, and something of a little less importance is that in a blind chocolate taste test, Elder Vennerholm, a Swede, chose American chocolate over Swedish and Finnish!!!  So that was hilarious.  But, overall it's been a great week.  Things are going well here.

Hey, I just want you all to realize how special you are in God's eyes.  Know your worth and then get outside yourself.  We learn the most about our character in the way that we treat other people and how much we can forget about ourselves.  Look out and turn out.  It requires effort and action but it will never be a waste.  Have a fantastic week!

Sorry, this week will be short, but hey, it was a crazy week.  Went down to Helsinki, we have a new Mission President, had exchanges with some of the Elders in the Zone, and just overall had a great time finding this past week.  Things are just great right now and mission life is great.  It's been pretty crazy and fast paced.  And I LOVE it.  But hey, I hope you all know how special you are to God and that you are His children.  He wants to hear from you in prayer, so remember to pray!  Have a fantastic week! This week has been good.  Crazy, because we had a holiday and we did a lot of book work!  But that's okay because we still had a great week of finding and trying to teach people.  Things are going well and I'm learning a lot.  The Lord provides, just trust Him.  He's always there to help.  Have a great week!

Hello everyone!  The week went well, it's been busy.  Had Zone Conference and exchanges with some of the Elders.  Super fun and edifying.  I hope you all have had the chance to be able to read your scriptures and pray lately.  It's the staple of life, I'm telling you.  Rely on the Lord.  There is nothing else that can support you.

Hello one and all!  So this past week was insane.  We had two day long meetings in Helsinki and even got to go to the temple!  I just love the temple.  If you can, go THIS WEEK.  It's so worth it.  But yeah, just been getting rained on like a shower and we've been doing some fun work.  It's great to be a missionary.

Hello everyone!

So this week was extremely busy for Vanhin Naylor - he received his transfer call to Tampere, which is the 3rd largest city in Finland with 222,000 people. So, he is leaving the Arctic Circle for slightly warmer temperatures. His new companion is Vanhin Vennerholm from Sweden. He has been out for 20 months. They are the new Zone Leaders in the Tampere area. We are so excited for them! They have 24 Missionaries reporting to them. The train ride south was about 6 hours but during the day at least. The are both very excited to continue serving the Lord in all they do and they encourage you to do the same.

Much love from the Elders!

Hello everyone!  So the biggest news of the week is that I'm being transferred!  I'll be going down to Tampere to serve with Elder Vennerholm.  He's Swedish!  That'll be pretty interesting and fun.  I'm sad to be leaving Rovaniemi, but that's just mission life I guess.  It's been great to be here.  But that's about the extent of the craziness.  Oh!  We also had exchanges last week with the Kemi Elders.  That was a lot of fun as well!  It's been great to see all of these experiences and just do all this stuff!  I'm so glad to be out here and serving right now.  Live in the moment everyone!  They go by very fast.  I hope that everyone has a fantastic week and that you see God's hand in your life every single day.  If you look for it, it's there.  Always.

Hello everyone!  So first off, I hope everyone had a fantastic Mother's Day!  I know I sure did.  It's always great to see family.  But yeah, nothing really too special this past week.  It was one of the first really normal weeks that we've had in awhile, but it was good nonetheless.  Pretty much just trying to find some people who are willing to listen and help out a couple people along the way!  Things are going great though!  Everyone, I just hope you remember why family is so important in this life.  Take care of them and treasure them, because it's like our own space of heaven while we are here on the earth.  Have a great week everyone!  And love your Mama!

Hello everyone!  So this past week was CRAZY!  Just a lot of travel and stuff.  We had exchanges with the Zone Leaders in Oulu this past week which was great!  It's always awesome to be with some Elders doing work in another city.  Change is good.  But it was way weird because they have been out right about the same time as me and so it was pretty weird to be with them.  But it was good!  Then we stayed in Kemi the next day and did some work there and then finally came back!  Overall, it's been just a crazy all over week.  But it's been good and the Lord has been blessing us.  Tell all your mother's, "Happy Mother's Day!" and make sure you help them know how truly special they are.  But keep reading and keep growing your faith.  True conversion comes over time, but it takes some work on our part!  I love you all and have an awesome week!

Tuesday, May 2, 2017

Hello everyone!  So this past week was good.  It's been a pretty busy week with finding people, traveling, and the holiday's that we had.  We weren't allowed to do much finding during those days, so that was a bit of a bummer, but we enjoyed it none the less.  We even got to make doughnuts with a member family for the holiday!  So that was pretty fun.  Overall, things are going great right now and I'm very grateful to be out here serving the Lord.  This week, I would just ask that everyone watch this video.  It's truly funny but also very very inspiring.  I hope you all have an amazing week!

Hello everyone!  So this past week was great!  Due mostly to the fact that one of our investigators got baptized!  It's so cool to see how the Spirit works with people and helps them accept this Gospel and it guides them to make the choices they need to to make sure that they are living in harmony with God's teachings.  I know that the power of the Spirit is real.  The baptism had to happen at an old folk's home because we don't have a baptismal font of our own.  So that was pretty interesting.  But it went well!  I was super nervous, haha.  But then the confirmation happened this past Sunday and Elder Hollingshead did amazing.  The Spirit was truly there.  But really, that's what I have this week.  Just remember how much God loves you and how much He wants you to be happy in this life.  True happiness comes from following His commandments.  That's a promise I can make, but more importantly, a promise that He has made to us.  I love you all and study your scriptures this week!!

Hello everyone!  So this past week was good.  Easter was pretty awesome am I right?  The Savior lives and loves each of us.  It's truly amazing.  He is amazing.  I hope that you all remembered Him in your own special way and that you keep that with you as you go.  Right now we are teaching well and trying to find people.  Some times in missionary work are harder to find people, and you would think with Easter we could find a lot.  But it's been a good growing experience.  I know that God lives and loves us.  And because He loves us, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ.  I'm very grateful for the opportunity to serve Him.  Have a great week everyone!

So this last week was good!  It looks like winter wanted to make a second trip to us in the north and we now have about another fresh 3/4 of an in of snow!  Crazy.  Anyways, the work is going great and we have an awesome set of investigators.  I'm so grateful to be able to meet and teach them the truth that I know.  I know that this is true everyone, it's as simple as that.  But, yeah, also I went down to Helsinki again this past week.  Two more night trains under my belt, you'd think that I'd be an expert by now.  Well sort of like that, haha.  Anyways, it was good to see a bunch of people and learn a lot.

This week if you all would study Lehi's dream, that would be awesome.  You can gain so much wisdom from it!  I just wanted to leave you all with a quote, "Brothers and sisters, one of the great consolations of this Easter season is that because Jesus walked such a long, lonely path utterly alone, we do not have to do so. His solitary journey brought great company for our little version of that path… " - Elder Holland.  Remember that our Savior loves us and has walked where we have and where we will.  He knows you perfectly.  So remember Him this upcoming Sunday especially with Easter.  I love you all and have an awesome week!

Hello everyone!  So this week was good.  I'm happy that conference was so great and I hope that you all thought so as well!!  Our investigators are doing well and we have some great people that we are being able to teach.  We are so blessed.  Honestly it's been a great week with Elder Hollingshead and we've been doing awesome work here in Rovaniemi.  I hope that everyone study's and really takes to heart the counsel that was given to us.

I just finished the Book of Mormon and I just want you all to know that it is true!  All of it.  I'm so grateful for the Book of Mormon and how much it has strengthened my faith.  I encourage all of you to read Moroni 10 and take the promise to heart and truly try it.  You will receive an answer.  Anyways, check out mormon.org this week and watch the new video.  It's very well done and I know that Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace.  Learn from Him.  Have a great week!

Hello everyone!  So this past week was good.  It's been getting warmer but it still is pretty cold.  Haha, but what can you expect?  But overall our investigators are doing well and I am so very blessed to be able to teach them.  They are very special in God's eyes, I can say that much.  But yeah, just a lot of the same old same old.  Finding is always an adventure!  But it's been a great time.  It's been really fun to be with Elder Howe and to be serving here at this time of year.

Just a reminder for all of you.  The Book of Mormon contains great power and it truly can help us come closer to Jesus Christ and help us answer some of life's hardest questions.  I know that the Book of Mormon is true and I encourage each of you to make time each day to study and ponder about it.  Have an amazing week!

Hello everyone!  So this past week was good.  It's been getting warmer and so that's pretty cool.  We have some great people that we are teaching and they have been doing amazing.  I also got sick this past week, so that wasn't too fun, but I'm doing better now so that's nice!  Overall a good week and lot's of work done.

Hey I just want to let you all know how much I appreciate you all and your prayers.  Prayer really does work and those that you pray for truly do feel the effects.  Just know that a sincere prayer can really change someone's life.  Just look at Alma the Younger.  That's the challenge this week, read Mosiah 27 and think about how the prayers of his father changed the course of the rest of his life.  I love you all and have an amazing week!

Hello everyone!  Wow, this past week flew by and honestly, it's been a great week.  The Lord has been blessing us so very very very much this past week and I can just testify that He is mindful of us and knows how He can help us.  Just know that He is truly there and He loves us and wants us to be happy!  We have some great investigators and we've been able to help many of them progress in coming closer to their Father in Heaven.  Overall, just awesome.  Would you all just read Alma 34 this week?  It's so great.

This week I just wanted to share this: https://www.mormonchannel.org/watch/series/mormon-messages/where-justice-love-and-mercy-meet  It's a great video and really worth your time!  I love you all and have a great week.

Hello everyone!  Wow, this past week has been awesome.  The Lord has been blessing us with people to teach, and they are willing to act upon the message that we give to them.  They are awesome and I'm very excited to see what happens with them.  We had exchanges this past week and I was also able to go to Santa's Village earlier today!  We didn't see Santa because the line was probably going to be about a 2 hour wait......so yeah, no.  But overall, it's been great and we've been able to see the Lord's hand in our lives.

One scripture really impressed me this week.  It's Helaman 3:35.  At the end it just says, "even to the purifying and the sanctification of their hearts, which sanctification cometh because of their yielding their hearts unto God."  When we yield our hearts to God, then He is able to sanctify us and make us better than we would have ever been.  It's very hard to yield up ourselves to Him, but as we do and as we continue to make His will, our will, we will then become greater than even we can understand possible.  Have a great week.

Service for a seamstress - Also, Vanhin Naylor was called to a District Leader this week!

Wednesday, February 22, 2017

Hello everyone!  So this past week was good.  We had exchanges with the Zone Leaders so that was pretty fun and we got a bunch of work done!  Plus we have a really cool girl who's investigating now and overall it's been a good week of work.  Not really too much to share, sorry.  Just normal mission life!  And it's great.

Just as Jesus Christ forgot Himself in the service and well-being of others, such is our duty.  Look out for service opportunities this week and remember how we are able to help others in such an amazing way.  We have the power to change lives, if we only look outside ourselves.  Have an awesome week!

So hello everyone!  This past week was PACKED.  Goodness, so many different crazy things.  I took two night trains, to and from Helsinki, we had District Conference over the weekend, a Zone Meeting, and a Zone Conference.  Whew, it was a big week.  All I can say is wow, I love the Gospel and being able to be a missionary is so awesome.  Pretty much didn't spend any time at all in our area this past week, but hey, we are here now and we are prepared to find people who are prepared.  Woo!

I have a quote that I really liked from District Conference, "Meekness is great power that is perfectly controlled."  Remember how meek our Savior was.  He had so much power and glory, and yet He was able to wield it in such a way as to bring about miracles in the live of others.  Follow His example and remember the power that has been given you.  I love you all, have an awesome week.

February 6, 2017

Hello all!  So this past week went well.  We've been out doing great work and finding people who want to learn more!  We also had Zone Conference this past week, so that was super great.  I learned a lot about agency and how we use our time.  It's been a pretty big push to understand all that since the schedule change.  Nothing too big really changed, so I'm not so sure why it is such a big deal to people.  But yeah, overall, just a normal week!  I got to translate again this week, so that was pretty interesting.  Also, this next week is going to be crazy full.  So, normal mission life I guess.

With God, all things are possible.  So remember that as we love God, we are able to understand how much the future has in store for us.  Do not fear, only believe.  That belief turns into a deep and abiding love.  And once that love is perfect, it "casteth out fear."  Have an awesome week!

Hello everyone!  So this is the first one from up here in the way north!  Ha ha, it's not as cold as you would think, but we do have a lot more snow here than where I was.  But overall, this past week went great!  Elder Howe is great and I'm way stoked to be serving up here.  We also had a crazy missionary broadcast this past week in the which they dropped some fiery doctrine.  Hah, but other than that, not too much.  The branch here is great and we have awesome members.  I have to translate every week from now on, so that'll be pretty interesting!  But anyways, overall, it's been lot's of good times so far.

I totally forgot to do a list thing this week.  I just want you all to ponder about what Alma means when he says, "the nature of happiness."  What does that mean to you?  That's an important question.

But my spiritual thought this week comes from something profound that, funny enough, I said.  Ha ha, we were talking about happiness and I said, "You have to look for the daisies among the dandelions." So remember, you can choose to be happy and make life what you want.  You are the creator.  You are an agent to act and not to be acted upon.  Think about the blessings from the Lord this week!  Love you all!

So the biggest thing that happened this week was that we got transfer calls!  I'll be heading up to Rovaniemi from Kokkola and I'll be serving with Elder Howe.  I'm pretty sad to be leaving but I know the Lord has a plan for each of us and that I'm going up for a reason!  But yeah, so that's pretty swell.  Other than that, just had a great week of going out and trying to find people.

Just read your scriptures!  Remember to always pray and read!!

So sorry I missed last week!  You can understand how crazy mission life is.  I don't have too much time, but this past week went well!  We had a really cold and warm week haha.  But we've been finding great people and I'm grateful to be out here serving the Lord.  It's always the best when it comes down to it!

Alma 13:27-29
Luke 12:15

My spiritual experience this past week was when we were contacting. We contacted this older woman and she said she wasn't interested. We then offered to carry her bag for her and she told us we could. As we walked and talked with her, she expressed to us some hard things that were going on in her life at the moment. We bore testimony and the love of Christ was truly with us. She then told us that earlier that day she had prayed that someone would come and help her just carry her bag. And a couple minutes later we showed up. It was an amazing experience to truly feel like we were becoming like Jesus Christ. We went about doing good and we were able to bless someones life immensely.  I love you all!
